The European Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (ECCD) and MEP Emma Rafowicz invite you to a conference–debate at the European Parliament to mark the 20th anniversary of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, ratified by the European Union.
Date: Wednesday, 19 November – 18:00
Location: Spinelli Room 3G2, European Parliament, Brussels
Twenty years after the adoption of the UNESCO Convention, this anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in protecting and promoting cultural diversity — and on the new challenges that have emerged in the digital age.
Through exchanges between creators, researchers, organisations, innovators, and public decision-makers, this event will explore key questions shaping the future of cultural policies in Europe:
- How do digital platforms influence cultural diversity and the arts and culture sectors?
- What role should culture and audiovisual media play in the European Union’s future budget?
- How can we effectively regulate artificial intelligence to safeguard creativity and access to diverse cultural expressions?
A Space for Dialogue and Cooperation
This high-level discussion will bring together a wide range of stakeholders to share data, best practices, and policy perspectives, with the common goal of strengthening Europe’s commitment to cultural diversity in a rapidly evolving technological environment.
The conference will be followed by a cocktail reception, offering an opportunity for informal networking and continued exchanges among participants.
